New Korean skincare products [October 2020 – Week 3]
Given the sheer amount of Korean beauty products launching every month, it’s hard to keep up with what’s new in K-Beauty. To help you navigate the complex world of Korean Beauty, every week I break down the hottest beauty launches coming from Korea.
Unlike with my monthly posts on K-Beauty bestsellers, you won’t find any link to purchase these products as they just became available in Korea.
But without further ado, here are the latest Korean skincare offerings of the week! Don’t forget to check out this week’s make-up launches as well.
Labelyoung – Long-Boiled Sambekcho line
The new “Long-Boiled Sambekcho” line from Labelyoung contains 77% extract of Sambekcho (Saururus Chinensis), a native Korean plant that is renowned for its repairing and rebalancing properties. The Sambekcho used in these products was originally sourced from Jeju island, then boiled for 336 hours at a temperature of 40°C to preserve the plant’s qualities.
Along with Sambekcho, the line also features Aloe Vera and Lavender to refresh and hydrate the skin. Labelyoung claims they developed the formulas of these products for those with sensitive skin or pregnant women. The line is composed of 2 products:
The Saem – The Essential Ampoule line
The Saem launched three highly-concentrated ampoules to target specific skin concerns. All ampoules passed numerous skin irritation tests and are suitable for sensitive skin.
“The Essential Vita C Brightening Ampoule” contains 21% of pure Vitamin C from the UK to brighten dark spots and even skin tone.
“The Essential Heartleaf Repair Ampoule” contains 80% of fermented Houttuynia Cordata along with TECA (short for “Titrated Extract of Centella Asiatica”, a combination of Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid. 3 active compounds extracted from the Centella Asiatica plant). Both ingredients work together to soothe, repair, balance and strengthen irritated skin.
“The Essential Lactobiotic Firming Ampoule” contains 80% lactobacillus fermented filtrate to nourish dry or dehydrated skin and strengthen the skin’s protective barrier.
Centellian24 – Tension-Up Microbiome Ampoule
The “Tension-Up Microbiome Ampoule” from Centellian24 is a new anti-aging ampoule featuring 77.1 billion microbiome cultures derived from the skin of healthy people in their 20s. These cultures form the Elastic Microbiome™, a trademark ingredient that is said to boost the production of 5 important proteins found in the skin: Collagen, Fibrillin, Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin, and Ceramide. The ampoule promises to strengthen the skin’s natural defences, defend skin against the first signs of aging and improve overall elasticity.
The technology used to formulate the product is also very innovative: as you can see from the visuals above, the microbiome cultures are enclosed in a capsule (named “Biome Ball”) suspended in a solution of Hyaluronic Acid. The capsule was designed to preserve the freshness of the microbiome content and it pops open when the bottle is shaken.
My Skin Solus (new brand launch)
My Skin Solus is a new derma-cosmetic K-Beauty brand that aims to provide gentle care to sensitive skin using only highly targeted ingredients and minimal formulas.
The signature ingredient of their products is CERAPYome™, a combination of ceramide and phytosphingosine derived from yeast extract. The ingredient is expected to restore the skin’s natural microbiome, nourish the skin and revive tired or lackluster complexion.
The first products launched by My Skin Solus are:
