New Korean skincare products [November 2020 – Week 2]

Given the sheer amount of Korean beauty products launching every month, it’s hard to keep up with what’s new in K-Beauty. To help you navigate the complex world of Korean Beauty, every week I break down the hottest beauty launches coming from Korea.

Unlike with my monthly posts on K-Beauty bestsellers, you won’t find any link to purchase these products as they just became available in Korea.

But without further ado, here are the latest Korean skincare offerings of the week! Don’t forget to check out this week’s make-up launches as well.

Lavida – Clean Solution (extension line)

Lavida - Clean Solution line

“Clean Solution” is the cleansing line from Lavida designed to remove makeup and gently wash away impurities. All products in the line feature Lavida’s signature ingredient Powercell™, a compound that mimics the structure of human skin cells, along with Dust-Off™, an anti-pollution plant-based complex. This week Lavida expanded the line with two new products.

“Clean Solution Comfort Peeling Gel” is an innovative peeling gel that effectively removes dirt and dead skin cells, through the ionic reaction between anions and cations in the formula. “Clean Solution Point Remover” is a dual-phase make-up cleanser composed of an oil layer at the top and a water layer at the bottom. The formula of the “Clean Solution Point Remover” contains centella asiatica and allantoin to soothe and moisturise the skin during cleansing.

AHC – Micro Non-Slip Mask Sheet

In their 2020 Korea Mask Trend Report, AHC reported that, following the covid 19 pandemic, many Korean consumers started to look for highly-functional sheet masks that could deliver the same results of professional treatments at home. The report shows that, one of the main complaints consumers had about sheet masks that are currently available on the market, is that most of them are too slippery and uncomfortable to wear around the house. Based on these findings, AHC came up with “Micro Non-Slip Mask Sheet“, a line of sheet masks featuring an innovative embossed surface for better adhesion. How much better? Check AHC’s promotional campaign for the launch!

The line is composed of 4 masks:

AHC - Micro Non-Slip Mask Sheet
(L-R Micro Rosemary Non-Slip Mask Sheet, Micro Vitamin Non-Slip Mask Sheet, Micro Red Collagen Non-Slip Mask Sheet, Micro Pure-Water Mask Sheet)

Along with Quinoa Seed Extract, the products in the line contain several ingredients that are known to improve elasticity and skin texture, like Beta-Glucan, Oat Kernel Extract, Maca Root Extract, and Yam Extract. The new “Gangwha Rice Granule Pack” by Dr. Ceuracle is a multifunctional treatment that can be used both as a face mask and a scrub. The products contains 30% of Rice Extract harvested from Ganghwa, a Korean island that has been environmentally preserved for 60 years due to its proximity to the DMZ.

After harvesting, rice seeds were fermented for 50 hours using lactic acid bacteria, and then ripened for 50 more hours. To preserve its properties, this fermented rice was processed using high-pressure–low-temperature (HP-LT) extraction. The formula is also enriched with Ceramide to nourish and protect the skin.
