New Korean skincare products [December 2020 – Week 2]
Given the sheer amount of Korean beauty products launching every month, it’s hard to keep up with what’s new in K-Beauty. To help you navigate the complex world of Korean Beauty, every week I break down the hottest beauty launches coming from Korea.
Unlike with my monthly posts on K-Beauty bestsellers, you won’t find any link to purchase these products as they just became available in Korea.
Please note there won’t be any make-up post this week, because all recent make-up launches were Christmas limited editions. 🎄 Fear not! Next week I will make a special post dedicated entirely to K-Beauty 2020 Christmas collections 🎄
First Lab – New Biome Essence Skin
First Lab is a beauty brand created by Ildong Pharmaceuticals, a renowned pharmaceutical company that has been researching lactobacillus for over 80 years. Under the name First Lab, the company makes highly effective skincare products based on their cutting-edge probiotic technology.
Their latest “New Biome Essence Skin”, for example, uses an innovative technology that combines concentrated probiotic extracts and prebiotic ingredients to provide complete synergistic care. The essence promises to relieve irritation and support the natural barrier function of the skin. Thanks to its concentrated formula, the product has been shown to brighten complexion over time and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Haruharu Wonder – Black Rice Moisture Cleansing Line
Clean lifestyle skincare brand Haruharu Wonder launched “Black Rice Moisture“, a gentle cleansing line designed to help irritated or sensitised skin.
The line consists of 2 products: a cleansing oil and a cleansing gel. The “Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil” features a minimal formula of only 9 ingredients to gently cleanse even the most delicate skin. The cleanser contains 95% natural ingredients, including rice oil, olive oil and sunflower seed oil. The rice oil used in the product, is extracted from Korean black rice, a natural ingredient that helps clean and revitilise the skin at the same time.
The “Black Rice Moisture Weak-Acidic Soft Cleansing Gel” has a low acidic formula of pH5.5 that mimics the skin’s natural ph levels. Like the oil cleanser, it contains black rice extracts that brighten and hydrate the skin, with the addition of bamboo shoot extract, a soothing ingredient. To make the formula even more gentle, Haruharu Wonder used a natural surfactant made from coconut shells, instead of synthetic surfactants that can be very stripping for some skin types. The natural surfactant creates micro-foam that thoroughly cleanses the skin without stripping it off of its natural oils.
Tonymoly – Green Tea True Biome Watery Eye Cream
The new “Green Tea True Biome Watery Eye Cream” is the latest addition to Tonymoly‘s “Green Tea True Biome” line. Launched this summer, the range was replaced the brand’s iconic Chok Chok Green Tea line.
As with the rest of the line, the “Green Tea True Biome Watery Eye Cream” contains only EWG-approved ingredients and is suitable for sensitive skin. The eye cream contains green tea probiotics, the line’s signature ingredients, along with bifida fermented solution, Boseong green tea extract and a trademarked ceramide complex called TrueBiome™. Thanks to its rich texture, the “Green Tea True Biome Watery Eye Cream” improves elasticity and delivers intense moisture to the eye area.
Labelyoung – Shocking Honey Tiger Cream
Labelyoung launched “Shocking Honey Tiger Cream“, a product designed to soothe damaged, irritated or sensitive skin. The formula contains extracts of centella asiatica, also known as tiger grass, and honey, in what the brand describes as an “ideal ratio”. While the tiger grass extract helps calm inflammation and redness, the honey extract hydrates the skin and supports the natural function of the skin barrier. Labelyoung found the ideal ratio of ingredients after a series of clinical trials involving people with compromised skin.
