New Korean skincare products [June – Week 4]
Given the sheer amount of Korean beauty products launching every month, it’s hard to keep up with what’s new in K-Beauty. To help you navigate the complex world of Korean Beauty, every week I break down the hottest beauty launches coming from Korea.
Unlike with my monthly posts on K-Beauty bestsellers, you won’t find any link to purchase these products as they just became available in Korea.
But without further ado, here are the latest Korean skincare offerings of the week! Don’t forget to check out this week’s make-up launches as well.
Iope – Retinol Expert 0.2%

Iope, a brand that offers highly-functional cosmetic products based on research, launched “Retinol Expert 0.2%” to effectively improve wrinkles and other signs of skin aging.
Iope has been researching retinol for almost 27 years and the product range “Retinol Expert” is a reflection of this expertise. Last year, the brand proved their reputation when they successfully launched “Retinol Expert 0.1%” and “Retinol Expert 0.3%”, generating over 26 billion Korean won in sales revenue in just one year. With the addition of the new “Retinol Expert 0.2%”, the lineup allows customers to chose the most suitable product for their skin type and condition.
The newly released “Retinol Expert 0.2%” was proven to improve the appearance of eye wrinkles, neck lines, and nasolabial folds in just two weeks. Plus, it was also shown to improve the appearance of pores along with reducing sebum production, increasing elasticity and smoothing skin texture. In particular, in-vivo tests showed the appearance of pores was visibly reduced by 28% after two weeks of use, and by over 49% after four weeks of use. The product also contains four types of peptides to promote collagen production, effectively improving skin elasticity and strengthening the skin’s barrier.
Despite its incredible efficacy, retinol is notorious for being a difficult ingredient. This is mainly due to the fact that it’s hard to stabilise retinol, since the ingredient is sensitive against light, air and heat. Additionally, it can also irritate skin if it’s not formulated properly. For this reason, when creating a cosmetic product that contains, it’s important to have the necessary technological skills to stabilise it while preserving its efficacy and minimising the chances of irritation.
Iope, which started researching retinol in 1994, developed “Cubecell system™”, a technology that was applied to all their retinol products and that stabilises the difficult ingredient. Without using a capsule coating, this technology allows pure retinol to be quickly absorbed by the skin, preventing oxidation by light and air. The product also features a three-stage oxygen barrier system to preserve the efficacy of retinol from the moment of opening until the last drop.
Skinfood – Garden Bean Gentle Cleanser line

Skinfood, the original food cosmetic brand that captures the freshness and nutritional properties of food, launched “Garden Bean Gentle Cleanser“, a line of 3 cleansers to meet all skin needs.
The three cleansers are vegan-certified products featuring proteins and active ingredients derived from 4 beans (kidney beans, green peas, black beans and white soybeans), extracted without compromising their effectiveness. Additionally, they all have a mildly acidic pH to minimise irritation during cleansing.
First of all, “Garden Bean Gentle Serum Cleanser” boasts a hydrating serum formula that lathers enough to wash away impurities from the skin, without producing an excessive amount of foam. “Garden Bean Gentle Bubble Foam Cleanser” is a cleansing emulsion that forms soft bubbles when it comes in contact with water and leaves skin feeling fresh and clean. Lastly, “Garden Bean Gentle Balm Cleanser” is a cleanser with a sherbet-like balm texture that melts into the skin, turning into a soft oil that cleanses skin thoroughly.

“So Vegan Calming Sun Cream” is an inorganic sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin, it features a tone-up effect that helps revive skin tone without leaving an unnatural and awkward white cast behind.
Plus, the sunscreen also doubles as a make-up base that covers pores, and creates a light, smooth base with a powdery finish.
“So Vegan Calming Sun Cream” contains Centella Asiatica and Houttuynia Cordata to soothe and hydrate sensitive and reactive skin, along with vitamin C-rich hibiscus to support skin nutrition and balance.
