New Korean skincare products [August – Week 1]
Given the sheer amount of Korean beauty products launching every month, it’s hard to keep up with what’s new in K-Beauty. To help you navigate the complex world of Korean Beauty, every week I break down the hottest beauty launches coming from Korea.
Unlike with my monthly posts on K-Beauty bestsellers, you won’t find any link to purchase these products as they just became available in Korea.
But without further ado, here are the latest Korean skincare offerings of the week! Don’t forget to check out this week’s make-up launches as well.
Dr.G – Hydra Aqua line

Dr.G, a dermocosmetic brand by Gowoonsesang Cosmetics, launched “Hydra Aqua“, a line that delivers tight hydration and improved skin density, thanks to 11 molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid and an elastic liposome technology.
Dr.G’s “Hydra Aqua” is a skincare line designed to help chronic dry skin with outstanding skin tightening and moisturising properties. The line contains 11 molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid delivered through an elastic liposome technology, that fills the small gaps in the skin with hydration, along with 17 types of amino acids, that form a protective film on the skin’s surface to improve moisture retention.
“Hydra Aqua” consists of 6 products: Hydra Aqua Boosting Toner, Hydra Aqua Capsule Essence, Hydra Aqua Comforting Emulsion, Hydra Aqua Watery Gel Cream, Hydra Aqua Intensive Cream and Hydra Aqua Essence Fit Mask.

Hydra Aqua Boosting Toner

Hydra Aqua Capsule Essence

Hydra Aqua Comforting Emulsion
First, “Hydra Aqua Boosting Toner” is a hypoallergenic moisture boosting toner that enhances the effectiveness of the following skincare steps. It contains Aquaseal, an ingredient derived from Nordic Birch Trees, that helps the low viscosity formula quickly penetrate the skin and boost hydration.
“Hydra Aqua Capsule Essence” is a moisturising essence that delivers hydrating radiance to dry skin thanks to double-encapsulated Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid. Through this encapsulation technology, the vitamin content can be preserved in a stable form, and be absorbed better once the product is applied on the skin and the capsules dissolve. The product is a 5-in-1 multi essence that offers moisturising, tightening, whitening, anti-wrinkle and firming properties with a hypoallergenic and weakly acidic formula that is easily absorbed by the skin without stickiness.
“Hydra Aqua Comforting Emulsion” is a highly moisturising lotion that deeply quenches the skin. It contains Dermobiotics, an ingredient that combines Hyaluronic Acid with Probiotics, that replenishes the skin with a soft formula that keeps skin hydrated for a long time.

Hydra Aqua Watery Gel Cream

Hydra Aqua Intensive Cream

Hydra Aqua Essence Fit Mask
Lastly, “Hydra Aqua Watery Gel Cream” is a highly moisturising lotion with strong skin barrier support thanks to the addition of Pro Vitamin D, and “Hydra Aqua Intensive Cream” is a rich moisturising sleeping mask that contains the same star ingredients of the essence of the line.
Iope – UV Shield Essential Sun Protector SPF 50+/PA++++

Iope, a brand that offers highly-functional cosmetic products based on research, launched “UV Shield Essential Sun Protector“, a sunscreen that effectively protects skin from multiple external aggressors.
“UV Shield Essential Sun Protector” was formulated using Skin Shield™, a technology that protects skin from UVA, UVB, blue light and fine dust responsible for skin aging. It also contains vitamin E and ferulic acid to provide skin with antioxidant protection.
Most importantly, the product features “Post-On”, a patented ingredient developed by Amorepacific that prevents fine dust from sticking to the surface of the skin, preserving skin’s softness.
“UV Shield Essential Sun Protector” should be used at the last step of skincare and boasts a lightweight formula with no stickiness that feels smooth and refreshing on the skin.
The History of Whoo – Bichup Jasaeng Self-Generating Anti-Aging Essence [3rd Generation]

LG Household & Health Care announced the launch of the 3rd generation “Bichup Jasaeng Self-Generating Anti-Aging Essence” from History of Whoo, a new reformulation featuring improved ingredients and exclusive technology.
The essence has been a steady best-seller for a long time, ranking first in the anti-aging essence category for over 10 years (source: Kantar Consumer Panel 2011-2020). The 3rd generation is an upgraded reformulation of the 2nd generation Bichup Jasaeng Essence launched in 2016, and features improved ingredients, technology and design.
The main feature of the 3rd Generation Bichup Jasaeng Essence is that it contains “Jaha Bichup Complex™”, which includes 10 times the amount of Cho Jahabidan, the main ingredient of the previous version of the essence. The efficacy of the ingredient was proven through the analysis of 20,000,000 studies obtained using data mining technology. It was shown that the application of the product improves skin barrier damage after just 3 days of use (source: Ellead, test on 32 women aged 20-61 years).
A representative of the Whoo Research Institute of Oriental Medicine stated: “Using the advanced technology we developed for 15 years, we created a product that doesn’t simply target the most visible signs of aging, but also addresses the early signs of premature aging. Compared to the previous version, it provides faster and stronger anti-aging properties to restore the skin’s natural strength weakened by external aggressors and aging.”
Hanyul – Pure Artemisia 1989 Edition

Hanyul launched “Pure Artemisia 1989 Edition“, a limited edition that embodies the long history of research on mugwort carried by Pacific Chemical, the former name of Amorepacific.
The limited edition includes the most popular products of Hanyul’s Pure Artemisia line (“Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Cream” and “Pure Artemisia Calming Water Ampule Serum“), along with a new product called “Pure Artemisia Calming Water Cream Soap“. The limited edition features an exclusive retro style packaging designed in collaboration with Inhyuk Jo, an illustrator renowned for its Newtro aesthetic.
The line’s most representative product, “Pure Artemisia Calming Water Cream Soap” is a modern interpretation of the philosophy that led Amorepacific to start their research on mugwort in 1989. Amorepacific has been conducting researches on the effectiveness and properties of native Korean plants for over 30 years. After proving the skincare benefits of mugwort essential oil in 1990, Amorepacific launched “Lido Mugwort Soap”, the first cosmetic product made using mugwort.
